A look at the iterative updates of the Berlin: Improving wearer comfort through refined lug geometry, handset proportions, and color-matched technical details.

Berlin

Iterative Evolution of a Best-Seller

The "Berlin" model has long been a cornerstone of the collection. Taking over the design responsibility, I recognized the potential to elevate this established icon through targeted, iterative refinements. My goal was not to replace the original vision of my predecessor, but to perfect its proportions, ergonomics, and visual harmony for a new generation of enthusiasts.

Ergonomic Engineering & Case Refinement

I spearheaded a complete overhaul of the case architecture to enhance daily wearability. By shortening the lugs and integrating them more fluidly into the mid-case, I achieved a more compact and organic silhouette that sits comfortably on any wrist. Additionally, I redesigned the crown to be more proportional and less obtrusive, ensuring it complements the case's clean lines without sacrificing tactile grip.

Dial Harmony & Technical Precision

To improve legibility and aesthetic balance, I recalibrated the handset’s proportions, optimizing both the width and length of the hands. A key technical focus was the seamless integration of the date complication: I introduced color-matched date wheels for the new variants, transforming a functional necessity into a harmonious design element that maintains the dial's visual integrity.

Strategic Portfolio Governance

With the introduction of two new colorways and these technical upgrades, the Berlin has solidified its position as a "Collection Champion." This project demonstrates my ability to analyze existing designs critically and implement precise industrial updates that increase both product value and customer satisfaction—ensuring the collection's long-term scalability and market relevance.
