Strategic development of the Naos Pro GMT: Implementing the Miyota 9075 'True GMT' movement while maintaining a 38mm Bauhaus profile. A case study in balancing technical complexity with ergonomic design under €1,000.

Naos Pro GMT: Strategic Evolution & Technical Leadership

Building on the commercial success of the Naos Pro Automatic, the GMT edition was conceived to expand the collection into a higher technical tier. Our goal was to set a bold statement: a genuine "True GMT" for under €1,000—a feat that was virtually impossible before the market introduction of the Miyota 9075 caliber.

Strategic Movement Selection

We deliberately decided against the TMI NH34 (Caller GMT) for two critical reasons. First, a technical constraint: implementing the NH34 would have forced the case diameter to at least 39.5 mm, compromising the iconic 38 mm Naos silhouette. Second, our commitment to functional excellence: we prioritized the "True GMT" jumping local hour hand over the less travel-oriented "Caller" function to offer real horological value to our community.

Harmonious Complexity & Scalability

The core challenge was to integrate a 24-hour scale into the minimalist Bauhaus dial without compromising its clarity. To achieve this, I designed a specialized GMT hand that provides a distinct visual layer while preserving the "Pro" series' refined proportions.

Industrial Synergies & Signature Aesthetics

A key element of our portfolio strategy was the adaptation of the custom black PVD STERNGLAS rotor with a gold-engraved logo. Since the Miyota 9075 shares the same base architecture as the 9015 series used in the standard Naos Pro, we were able to scale this distinct design feature across the entire "Pro" line. This not only ensured industrial efficiency through shared components but also established a consistent high-end visual signature for our premium models.

Curating the Color Palette

The color selection reinforces our brand identity by utilizing "Collection Classics": Satin Silver for technical precision and Küstenblau—our signature coastal blue—transitioning from limited editions to a permanent pillar of the GMT series.
